At my job, I realized shipping features fast often took priority over optimizing every single line. But here’s the truth I learned the hard way: writing optimized code isn’t just about looking smart in interviews — it’s about building software that scales. 1. An API that works in O(N³) might be fine for 100 users, but what about 100,000? 2. A query that “just works” could crash your system when real traffic hits. 3. Clean, efficient logic reduces not only execution time but also infrastructure cost. Yes, real-world development is about delivering value quickly.
